Sunita Ahuja has come out in support of Jaya Bachchan after the latter faced widespread backlash for her candid remarks about paparazzi culture in India. In a recent vlog, Ahuja addressed questions from her fans, particularly one that contrasted her own cheerful interactions with photographers against Bachchan’s more critical stance.
Responding to the fan, Sunita explained that every celebrity has their own way of dealing with media attention. She defended Bachchan’s reaction, suggesting it may stem from irritation. “Look, everyone has their own thoughts and thinking. Jaya ma’am must be getting irritated. I can’t say anything about her. She is very big. She must not like it. So, if she doesn’t like it, then paparazzi shouldn’t do it,” Sunita said in Hindi.
Ahuja also shared her personal philosophy about life and public engagement, emphasising the importance of joy and positivity. “Look, I have a lot of fun with everyone. I feel like I should get up in the morning and start having fun because there is nothing in life. There is only one life. It is very difficult to get a human life. You should live your life with a smile. There is no point in fighting. In the end, we all have to go up. So, live your life with a smile. If Jaya ji doesn’t like it, then I can’t say anything about her. I love Jaya ji a lot and I will always love her,” she added.
This support for Bachchan comes after the veteran actor’s remarks at the We The Women event in Mumbai last month, where she openly questioned her rapport with the paparazzi, saying, “It is strange. I am the product of the media, but my relationship with the paparazzi is zero… Who are these people? Are they trained to be representing the people of this country?” Bachchan’s comments sparked debate online about media professionalism and celebrity privacy.
By voicing her perspective, Sunita Ahuja has added another voice to the ongoing conversation surrounding the boundaries between celebrities and the paparazzi in India.
