Simaran Kaur is currently seen as Riddhi Chotwani in Jamai No. 1, which is produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah under their banner, Studio LSD. The actress says her character is very natural, which makes it very relatable and easy for the audience to relate to her.
“I would want to do different kinds of roles, like my role in Jamai No. 1 is very different from my last. I would continue to keep experimenting with characters and do different things because that gives me a kick, and that is what an artist craves for,” she said.
Expressing her keen desire to do roles similar to her avatar in the Zee TV show, Kaur continued, “I would like to play roles that are interesting because nowadays even the audiencedoes not want something monotonous; they want to see something different, so even if it's something monotonous, an actor needs to put their own elements in it to make it look different. So that craft I would like to continue and accept new challenges and do different stuff”.
She also opened about the experience of shooting for the television series and expressed her happiness over appreciation coming her way. Talking about her character, she added, “The role that I am playing is also like not a typical protaonist; she's a little different, and that's what I love about my character, and the audience is also loving it. She is like a boss girl, is the head of a company, and is managing so many things. I like the fact that she takes the shot and the ball is always in her court, but at the same time she is like a coconut, someone who is strong from the outside but soft on the inside.”
“She's very close to her family, and when it comes to them, everything goes out for a toss. I feel that is ringing the right chords with the audience. Also, the character has its own journey, and there are so many layers to this character. The small nuances add to the beauty of it and make it more interesting to play,” she shared.
Simaran also stressed that the show is very fast-paced and contemporary, and the acting style is very similar to that of a web show. She further mentioned, “The show is very modern, and in terms of acting, I am learning so much. I am keeping everything very natural, especially my dialogue delivery, because then the audience connects with it easily.”
The actress also insisted that she has an ardent entertainment lover and loves to explore content across mediums and platforms. “I consume so much of content, be it from India or abroad, and the best part about them is that they are very natural. And I feel when something is close to real, it makes it easier for the audience to relate to it. So the role is unlike TV and very relatable and is definitely helping me grow as an actor. I am very passionate, and I love what I do. I love films, TV shows, and web series, and I consume a lot of content. And that helps me in staying focused and learning new skills. That is my mantra,” Simaran concluded.
