Akon’s much-awaited return to India just got even more exciting. Delhi is gearing up for a memorable night as pop sensations Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar open for the international star on November 9. The high-energy concert, organized by Sara Awwad, founder of Studio Majime, in partnership with White Fox, marks the start of Akon’s India tour, with upcoming performances in Bengaluru on November 14 and Mumbai on November 16.
Sara Awwad shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “When we decided to bring Akon back to India, we wanted every city to feel more than just a show. Delhi, especially, we have a little surprise, for the opening act that would reflect both Akon's global appeal and India’s vibrant pop scene. Sukriti and Prakriti absolutely fit the bill; they’re bold, talented, and embody the fresh energy of India’s pop revolution.”
The sisters, known for chart-toppers like ‘Mafiyaan,’ ‘Kehndi Haan Kehndi Naa,’ and ‘Sona Lagda,’ are set to deliver an electrifying opening act. For the Kakar twins, sharing the stage with Akon is nothing short of a dream come true.
Sukriti reflected on the moment, saying, “It’s honestly surreal. Growing up, we danced to Akon’s hits like ‘Smack That’, ‘Chammak Challo’ and ‘Bananza (Belly Dancer).’ Growing up we memorized all of Akon’s tracks, and even memorised and wrote down lyrics in our little book while listening on our mp3’s. Now, performing before him, especially in Delhi, our hometown, feels like coming full circle.”
Prakriti agreed, adding, “Akon’s songs defined an era for so many of us. This Delhi concert isn’t just a performance; it’s a huge celebration. We’re crafting a setlist that’s going to keep the energy high and surprise everyone.”
The 2025 India tour is presented by HSBC, with The Spirit of KASHMYR as co-presenter, brought to India by White Fox, and co-produced by Percept Live. Tickets for the Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai shows are exclusively available on District by Zomato.
With Akon’s timeless hits like ‘Lonely,’ ‘Right Now (Na Na Na),’ and ‘Chammak Challo,’ blending with the contemporary pop energy of Sukriti and Prakriti, this Delhi concert curated by Studio Majime promises to be the ultimate crossover experience where musical eras meet and the energy stays high till the final beat.
