Salman Khan all set to present Dr. Cabbie : Bollywood News

Salman Khan continues to have busy days ahead. While he is going all out to wrap up Kick for Eid release, he has another film coming up which is quite close to his heart. Dr. Cabbie, an international film that was announced with much fanfare last year, is now ready for release with its teaser First Look all set to be unveiled.

"The film features Vinay Virmani in the title role of Dr. Cabbie who had earlier gained critical acclaim and was appreciated for Bejoy Nambiar's David. He was also immensely appreciated in Indo-Canadian film Breakaway, which was the highest grossing film in Canada in 2011. Dr. Cabbie is about this youngster from India who gains a medical degree from there, only to find himself riding a cab in Canada. It is a light hearted film with dramatic elements to it as well," informs a source.

Once Salman heard the subject, he wanted to present and produce it under his banner Salman Khan Being Human [SKBH] Productions, more so since it carries a strong theme of medical assistance to the needy, something that his charity organization 'Being Human' promotes as well.

"Since Dr. Cabbie is designed to reach out to a wider segment of audience, the narrative of this Jean-Francois Poulliot directed film doesn't take an overtly serious route. In fact, the teaser is a 'smile through' affair and Salman is quite glad with what he sees. He is backing the film to the fullest and is making sure that next few months are well utilized to pitch it to the target audience," the source adds.

The film, which also stars Adrianne Palicki (GI JOE), Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) and Lillete Dubey in principle roles, is the launch pad of Isabelle who is Katrina Kaif's sister. Dr. Cabbie, which is a production of First Take Entertainment and Caramel Films, and is distributed in Indian Sub-Continent by Eros International, is aiming for an international release in September.
