Priyanka Chopra Jonas today one of the most recognisable Indian stars globally. In a throwback interview with Filmfare, Priyanka opened up about the inseparable link between her international journey and her ambitions as a producer.
According to Priyanka, success abroad hasn’t come easy. She said, “I started working abroad and found success through big mountains and valleys. I don’t dwell on it much because I’m someone who just keeps moving forward and that inspires me. It’s not easy to start your life in a completely different country, in a completely different industry. I’m still navigating it.”
Despite her growing global presence, she admits she still feels like a novice in her English‑language career. Yet for Priyanka, the bigger mission lies in representation. “But pushing boundaries and pushing culture is very important to me. Wherever I go, India goes with me,” she said.
At the heart of her producing career is her company, Purple Pebble Pictures a banner she founded to give voice to stories and filmmakers from India’s diaspora and beyond. She explained, “With my production house, I try to make sure stories and filmmakers from our diaspora who want to tell our stories get a platform.”
Priyanka emphasised her commitment to empowering under‑represented creatives especially women and young talent to showcase their work internationally. “Whether it’s supporting women, or filmmakers from India who want an international platform… Whatever I can do to help get their stories and work out there, I try to do in my own small way.”
She remains humble despite her stellar global achievements. As she put it, she doesn’t yet see herself as “super established,” but is proud of what Purple Pebble Pictures has achieved so far.
With her dual identity as both actor and producer, Priyanka Chopra Jonas continues to build bridges between worlds charting a path that honours her roots while embracing a global canvas.
