Actor Prakash Raj has made some thought-provoking remarks about the film industry's lack of fair play for aspiring actors.

Renowned actor Prakash Raj recently shared his thoughts on a conversation about the challenges of breaking into the Indian film industry. In a candid interview with Film Companion, he openly acknowledged the lack of “fair play” for aspiring actors, highlighting the industry's monopolisation by established figures like himself.

When asked about the secret to success in acting, the Wanted actor suggested there is no easy formula. He stated, “Nobody has an answer for that because there is no fair play.” He explained that success often hinges on chance and mentorship, citing his fortunate encounter with filmmaker K. Balachander as a defining moment in his career.

However, the Singham actor didn't shy away from addressing the elephant in the room: the current power dynamics within the industry. “People like me, we monopolise it so much that we don't allow others to come because it is our survival,” he stated candidly. He further elaborated that this monopolisation extends beyond actors, with directors and writers sometimes prioritising established stars due to perceived convenience and financial benefits.

Despite a bleak outlook, the veteran actor also acknowledged positive shifts, particularly the rise of OTT platforms. He noted that these platforms are providing a wider platform for diverse stories and actors, offering new hope for aspiring talent. However, he expressed concerns about the potential monopolisation of this space by large corporations, questioning the decision-making power of individuals “who don't know anything.”

Coming to the professional front, the 58-year-old actor was last seen in the Mani Ratnam directorial Ponniyin Selvan: II. He has a couple of projects in his kitty including Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule.
