Veteran actor and former BJP MP Paresh Rawal has expressed his openness to criticism of the government from Bollywood peers Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan, stating he respects their views as they lack any “hidden agenda.” In an interview with The Lallantop, Rawal stated that he values their opinions due to their sincerity and mutual respect, despite his own political affiliations.

Paresh Rawal’s Respect for Honest Critique

Rawal highlighted the integrity of Shah Rukh, Aamir, and Naseeruddin in their commentary. “If Naseer bhai, Aamir, or Shah Rukh have something to say, I can’t discard that. I’ll listen to them because they have no hidden agenda, they have no axe to grind. They’re saying it for my own benefit. So, I’ll listen, introspect, and try to improve. It doesn’t make a difference. I respect them, they love me,” he said. His stance reflects a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue, transcending ideological differences.

Rawal particularly praised Naseeruddin Shah for his candidness, noting, “You feel very safe and satisfied around people like these. Otherwise, you can’t keep looking over your shoulder again and again.” Shah, a frequent critic of government policies on issues like minority rights, has collaborated with Rawal in films such as Sir and the play The Sleuth. Meanwhile, he has worked with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna and Shah Rukh in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.

Not only this, the Hera Pheri actor also recalled refusing Boman Irani’s role in Munna Bhai MBBS due to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s arrogant behaviour in the same interview. He said, “We were discussing remuneration, and in my head, I wanted Rs 15 lakhs. Vidhu also offered the same number, but the way he said ‘I’ll give you 15’ miffed me. I asked for Rs 50 lakhs and decided to not budge from my want just to not take arrogance from anyone.”

On the work front, the 69-year-old actor was last seen in The Storyteller. He has a bunch of films in his kitty, including Housefull 5, Bhoot Bangla, Thama, and Hera Pheri 3.
