Celebrated filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who graced the poster launch event of the new play '7:40 Ki Ladies Special' in Mumbai, took a moment to commend the recent passage of the women's reservation Bill in the Parliament.
The significant legislation, which has now been forwarded to President Droupadi Murmu for her assent before becoming law, has garnered widespread acclaim for its aim to empower women in Indian politics.
Expressing his support for the historic Bill, Mahesh Bhatt remarked, "I have experienced women's power from up close since childhood. Had it not been for our mothers, we wouldn't be here today. I am very happy that our government has taken this historic step to put our women further on par with men."
Besides this, Mahesh Bhatt also paid tribute to the legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, on the eve of his 116th birth anniversary, which falls on September 28. Bhagat Singh's nephew, Kiran Jeet Singh, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
Talking about the Women’s Reservation Bill, it has been a long-standing demand of women's rights activists. It is expected to increase the number of women in decision-making positions in India. Before Bhatt, a bunch of Bollywood celebs applauded it including Kangana Ranaut, Bhumi Pednekar, Priyanka Chopra and Divya Dutta.
