John Abraham launched the graphic novel, ‘Lakadbaggha: The Prologue’, written by actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha and illustrated by American Comic book artist Brittain Peck. The novel is based on the film Lakadbaggha (2023), which starred Anshuman in the lead role of an animal vigilante. Ridhi Dogra, who also featured in the film, also graced the launch.

John Abraham said, “I have always loved animals. It's something that has to come from within. I can't fight like Anshuman but I'll protect them till the last breath of my life!” Anshuman Jha couldn’t believe his ears and jokingly asked the mediapersons whether they recorded John’s quote.

John continued, “I was very happy watching him fight for animals because when you see someone harm an animal, you want to beat the guy up. I'll be in trouble if I do that on the road. Hence, I am happy you'd do that on the screen for all of us (smiles).”

He further said, “I am an agnostic. I am practically an atheist. But I believe that if there's God on Earth, it's a dog! That's my personal belief and I worship them. In fact, I worship every animal. I look at animals and I try to see what I can learn from them, especially dogs. They are survivors and so gracious. They are also benevolent. They'll be kind to you even if you are cruel to them.”

Anshuman Jha was asked about his favourite animal. He replied, “My favourite animal hands down is a monkey. Since I was a kid, I have had a huge Hanuman ji connection. I was two months old when I was picked up by a monkey at our native place in Darbhanga. I always find a way with monkeys. Funnily, Lakadbaggha’s sequel is called Lakadbaggha 2 - The Monkey Business.”

Talking about the future of the series, Anshuman said, “I don't know how many films of Lakadbaggha will happen. But I do know that the comic universe vertical will live till we live and beyond them by like-minded people.”

He added, “Lakadbaggha’s first part opens with violence at Khidirpur Docks (but it’s described by a) voiceover. In this comic book, we see what actually happens at the dock. It's kind of an origin story of Arjun Bakshi (played by Anshuman).”

Anshuman Jha revealed that the first three parts of the novel will be about the first Lakadbaggha film. He said, “There will also be origin stories of each character. The fourth, fifth and sixth books will encompass the story from the second part, that is, the Indonesian chapter.”

Anshuman Jha stated that Lakadbaggha 3 is also in the offing saying, “Part 3 will be set in North America as well as South America. It was earlier set only in North America. But I happened to accidentally meet the President of Chile. He sweetly offered to shoot the film in his country.”
