One of the country’s leading actors, Kriti Sanon continues to strengthen her position as a versatile performer with every project. While her filmography reflects steady growth, it is Mimi that she considers a defining moment in her journey.
Speaking at the Times Now Summit, Kriti opened up about how the film transformed her perspective as an actor. “I believe it marked a pivotal moment in my life. It allowed me to soar as an actor. It instilled in me the confidence that I can achieve much more than I initially thought. I just need to trust myself a bit more and embrace challenges,” she said.
Despite her conviction, the decision to take on the role wasn’t without hesitation from others. Kriti revealed that she faced considerable resistance when she chose to star in a film centered around surrogacy. “Many questioned my decision to take on such a role. They warned, ‘You're portraying a mother. You'll be pigeonholed. It will age you. A film about surrogacy might be too niche.’ I received numerous comments, and I think that’s when it’s crucial to truly listen to your inner voice. It never deceives you,” she shared.
For Kriti, the film became an opportunity to push her boundaries and prove her range. Calling herself a “driven actor,” she admitted that she surprised herself with what she was able to achieve through the role. “I appreciate what this film conveys, and I admire that such a powerful topic is infused with so much humor and entertainment, making it resonate with audiences. I poured my heart into it, and I feel like the film reciprocated that effort,” she added.
As she continues to scale new heights, the buzz around her upcoming project Cocktail 2 is already growing. With the recently released song generating excitement online and her screen presence drawing attention, anticipation around her next move only seems to be building further.
