Actress Konkona Sen sharma recently revisited her role in Zoya Akhtar's 2009 film Luck By Chance, expressing admiration for the film's script. The film, which delves into the inner workings of the Hindi film industry through the eyes of two strugglers, has garnered renewed attention. This resurgence is partly due to the popularity of Aryan Khan's series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which shares a similar theme. Audiences have been sharing scenes and memes from both productions on social media, sparking discussions about the industry's portrayal in cinema.

In an interview with PTI, Konkona shared her initial reaction upon reading the script for Luck By Chance. She recalled, “I had heard about this script, I'd heard it's great, not very conventional. It was perhaps not getting the kind of green light or the actors that it had wanted to originally.” However, upon reading it, she was captivated, “Then I read it and felt, ‘It's one of the best scripts I've ever read.’ It is such a sparkling, fantastic script that I was just blown away. I was bowled over. I was just like, ‘Oh my God, can we start shooting tomorrow, please?’”

Konkona portrayed Sona Mishra, a small-town woman navigating the complexities of the film industry. She stated, “What an interesting and unusual character with a great and unusual resolution. It has a nice little traditional romance, male hero... I was really privileged to have worked on that film.”

Beyond her film career, Konkona continues to explore diverse roles. She currently stars in JioHotstar's series Search: The Naina Murder Case, where she reunites with director Rohan Sippy. The series, an adaptation of the Danish show Forbrydelsen (The Killing), has been praised for its Indian context and compelling storytelling. Konkona expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting the team's effort to adapt the original material thoughtfully.

Known for her nuanced performances in films like Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, Omkara, and Life in a... Metro, Konkona has also ventured into direction. She directed the critically acclaimed A Death in the Gunj and contributed to the anthology Lust Stories 2. Looking ahead, she is co-writing and co-directing a comedy series with Jaydeep Sarkar, signaling her continued commitment to diverse and meaningful storytelling.

Konkona's journey reflects her deliberate choice to prioritize content over popularity, a path she has embraced since childhood. She remarked, "From very early on in my childhood, I have believed that what is popular is not necessarily good. I want to do things which interest me. If I can make it work, great. If I can't, then I won't, it's okay." Her dedication to authentic and impactful narratives continues to resonate with audiences and critics alike.
