Shahid Kapoor, Pankaj Kapur, and Mrunal Thakur appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show recently to promote their forthcoming film, Jersey. The film's original April 14 release date was pushed forward to April 22. On the show, Kapil asked Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur if they have ever college and even asked them the reason for the same.

In one of the clips from the show, Kapil is seen asking Shahid, “In Jersey, there is the song ‘Baliye Re’ where Shahid is seen bunking his match to go meet Mrunal. Have you bunked classes during your college days?”

Reacting to the question, the actor says, “Ji (Yes)”. Soon after, Kapil asks, “Kya karne ke liye? (To do what?)”. Shahid, however, turns it back on Kapil and says, “Tum kya kar rahe the college mai, tumne kayke liye bunk kiye the (What were you doing in college? Why did you bunk college?)”.

Responding to it, Kapil says, “Mere college mai ladkiya bhi ladkon ke tarah the, chodo woh (In my colleges, even the women were like men, leave it)”.

Kapil then asks Mrunal the same question. The actress shares she, too, used to bunk classes during her college days. When asked the reason behind the same, she laughed and said, “Side mai Pankaj (Kapur) sir baithe hai, mai kya bolu (Pankaj sir is sitting beside me, what should I say?). To this, Kapil said that even Pankaj Kaapoor has been through college and school and is well aware as to what happens during this phase in life. Agreeing with Kapil, Pankaj Kapur said, “Matlab mai bhi normal sa insaan hu, mera bhi ek zamana raha hai, mere bhi armaan hote honge (I mean, I, too, am a normal person. I have been through this and I too had desires)”.

Jersey is a sports drama film written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, a remake of his 2019 Telugu film of the same title. The story is about a 36-year-old cricketer named Arjun who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago, now aiming to play for the Indian team. The film is produced by Allu Entertainment, Dil Raju Production, Sithara Entertainments, and Brat Films.
