Alia Bhatt addressed the Botox speculation with a firm rebuttal on social media, following allegations that she had undergone Botox treatments with adverse effects. Soon after her response, Dr. Sai Ganapathy, a facial aesthetics expert who initially commented on her appearance, responded to her claims, stating that his comments were based solely on “personal judgement.”
Alia Bhatt Denies Botox Rumors
Alia Bhatt took to Instagram earlier today to counter the accusations, calling them “beyond ridiculous” and a form of hypercritical judgement of her natural features. In her post, she criticised the narrative, stating, “To the random video floating around literally claiming I've had Botox gone wrong (and to the numerous clickbait articles) – I have a ‘crooked smile’ and a ‘weird way of speaking,’ according to YOU. This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgement of a human face.” Alia further questioned the “scientific explanations” given about her appearance and shut down claims that she was paralyzed on one side.
Dr. Sai Clarifies His Comments on Alia's Appearance
In a response to Alia’s statement, Dr. Sai Ganapathy clarified that his remarks in a recent video were “just a personal judgement” and not an attack on Alia or her appearance. Speaking with Hindustan Times, he elaborated, "It’s just a personal judgment, and I have not targeted anyone. It can happen to anybody; even some of my patients can face it.” He noted that minor complications are not uncommon in aesthetic treatments but reassured that such effects are “completely reversible.”
Dr. Sai further explained his perspective on Alia’s mannerisms, particularly her way of speaking, suggesting that minor complications like Botox migration can lead to temporary effects in facial movement. “After seeing her videos, I realised that when she must have got the Botox done, something might have gone wrong. It’s not a major but a minor complication,” he explained, describing how the substance might have affected the risorius muscle, causing slight changes in lip movement while speaking.
The Public Figures Debate
When asked whether it’s appropriate to comment on a public figure’s appearance, Dr. Sai acknowledged the complexity of the issue, adding that it’s not necessarily “right” but may serve to increase awareness. “They are public figures, so there's more awareness among people when they see these celebrities getting Botox done and something goes wrong,” he explained. He added that public discussions about celebrities could provide a level of insight for those considering similar treatments, “helping people be more aware that these things can be reversed.”
Dr. Sai stated that his video wasn’t meant to “target” Alia personally, but rather to offer information for broader awareness, particularly among those unfamiliar with potential cosmetic procedure outcomes.
Alia Bhatt’s Call for Respect
In her post, Alia underscored the undue scrutiny faced by public figures and advocated for respect and restraint in judging personal appearances. Her response was a pointed critique of the culture of instant judgement and the tendency to place celebrities under a microscope. She highlighted the harm caused by such speculation, asserting her “crooked smile” and unique speaking style as natural, not a result of any cosmetic procedure gone wrong.
