Kunal Kapoor, currently seen in the heist thriller Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, recently spoke about the importance of transcending linguistic and regional boundaries in Indian cinema. While Kapoor has maintained a selective approach when it comes to choosing roles, he has consistently engaged with stories across languages, building a diverse filmography that spans Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu cinema.

Reflecting on his journey, Kapoor said, "I am an Indian actor shooting films in different Indian industries. I don't view cinema through the lens of North, South, East, or West. These regional divisions serve political interests, not artistic ones. The politicians are the ones who benefit from such regionalism. As creative people, our vision should transcend these manufactured divides." He further added, "The whole country is our playground, every story worth telling is our story, every audience member is our audience. When we stop thinking of ourselves as regional actors and start seeing ourselves as Indian storytellers, we unlock the true potential of our collective creative spirit."

Kapoor made his debut in Hindi cinema with Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities and gained wide recognition for his role in Rang De Basanti. Over the years, he has taken on a variety of roles in films like Aaja Nachle, Dear Zindagi, and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, among others. He later expanded into Malayalam cinema with Veeram in 2016 and made his Telugu debut with Devadas in 2018.

His latest film Jewel Thief placed him at the centre of a fast-paced heist narrative, while his upcoming projects include Vishwambhara, a Telugu film, and a key role in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of Ramayana, where he is reportedly set for a face-off with Yash. With a career that continues to move across regional boundaries, Kunal Kapoor remains focused on telling stories that resonate with audiences across India — regardless of language.
