Among the notable guests were ace fashion designer and recently-turned producer Manish Malhotra, and versatile actor Vijay Varma, who is celebrated for his compelling performances across films and web series.
Speaking candidly about his journey from a modest Marwadi household to carving a place in Bollywood, Vijay Varma reflected on the early challenges he faced. “My household wasn’t Bollywood at all; in fact, it was detested and looked down upon,” he revealed. He shared an anecdote from his younger days, saying, “I had applied to NIFT Hyderabad because I wanted to pursue something in the creative field. I needed my father’s signature on the form, so I took it to him and said I wanted to do a fashion designing course. He looked at it and said, ‘Tailor banega?’ and tore the form right in front of me.”
The actor went on to describe how his family’s perspective has evolved over the years, particularly after his recent work in Gustaakh Ishq. “My father just sent me a voice note this morning saying, ‘Teri film acchi hai, akhbar mein aaya hain.’ I was so touched. My entire family went and watched the film last night in Hyderabad, and they absolutely loved it,” he shared, highlighting the personal satisfaction of winning his family’s support and appreciation.
Vijay’s story resonated with many in the audience, emphasizing the challenges faced by artists coming from non-filmy backgrounds and the perseverance required to succeed in the competitive world of Bollywood.
