Taapsee Pannu has addressed a misconception that has been following her for some time: that she only takes on roles where she is the central character. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, after the release of Dunki alongside Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, she clarified, "I am not sure if I can consider it as a totality or not. Because it's a very wrong opinion about me, which I am tired of clearing."
She further elaborated, "People think that if there is a film in which my character doesn't get centre stage, then I won't do it. From Javed Saab to everybody has told me that you don’t do those films where you won’t be the main character. If there are films around the hero then you won’t do it. I said, who is spreading such things? I feel it will take a lot of time for me to fix this."
Pannu believes this misconception is holding her back from landing big-banner projects. "That's why I don’t get big banner films because it is believed that I will not do it. There are very few filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani. I had never met Raju sir before. He is not a social person nor do I go to places where I can meet him. He messaged me after Manmarziyaan. I had to check with Anurag Kashyap if this is his number or if someone is pranking me. There are hardly any directors of his stature."

Speaking of Dunki, as mentioned above, it stars Shah Rukh Khan. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial was released on December 21. The ensemble star cast of the film also features Anil Grover and Vikram Kochhar. Meanwhile, Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal played cameos in the film.
