EXCLUSIVE: Suchitra Krishnamoorthi talks about attending a naked party in Berlin: “I left in 20 minutes; mujhe kisi ke boobs ya buttocks nahin dekhne”

The gorgeous and talented Suchitra Krishnamoorthi is busy travelling across Europe at present. Yesterday, that is, on Sunday, July 14, she informed through a tweet that she attended a ‘naked party’ in the city of Berlin, Germany. The experience astonished her. In the tweet, she wrote, “Just attended a body positivity/ naked party in Berlin. Reminded me of the quote : dont be so open minded that ur brains fall out. Desi girl forever. Need a sĥower & some gayatri mantra chanting . Baapre” (sic).

Bollywood Hungama spoke to Suchitra Krishnamoorthi exclusively to find out more about this nudist bash. She began by saying, “These things are very, very common over here. The whole point of it is to promote body positivity and get over hang-ups with our bodies. I thought, ‘chalo, experience karte hai’. The party was held in a bar which belonged to a friend of a friend. I was put on the guest list. I went for it and in no time, I ran away as I am too desi. Mujhe kisi keboobs ya buttocks nahin dekhne hai (laughs)!”

She continued, “But it was all in good spirit. It’s meant to be a fun and positive thing. It’s not vulgar at all. But as Indians, we are raised to be quite conscious of our body –har cheez sambhalo, chhupaao etc.”

When asked how much time she spent at the party, Suchitra replied, “I was there, I think, for around 20 minutes or a maximum of half an hour. It was an all-night party. There were many people but it was an invite-only bash. It was not a public event.” She added, “Mujhe maza aaya but as I said, I am a desi girl.” She sang the ‘Desi Girl’ song from Dostana (2008) at this point in her melodious voice.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s bond with her actor-singer daughter Kaveri Kapur is quite adorable. When asked how her daughter reacted to her attendance at the naked party, she answered, “She doesn’t know yet. But she’ll be very chill. She keeps telling me, ‘Ma, you are such a prude. Just relax. Wear short clothes. Show some cleavage’! She’s the opposite (of me). She feels her mother is really stuck up.”

Suchitra continued, “Hence, she’ll be happy I went for something like this. Even though I ran away in 20 minutes, at least I tried going.”

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi signed off by saying, “Berlin is very hot. Before, I was in London. It was lovely. It was my kind of weather. In fact, events like these (the naked party) are a part of the summer vibe in Berlin.”
