Ruhi Singh will be seen in a crucial role in Mastiii 4. As the film gears up for a release on November 21, the beautiful, talented and confident actress spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about the film, completing 10 years as an actor and a lot more.
Your debut film Calendar Girls (2015) recently completed 10 years. How do you look back at that film and your decade-long journey?
10 years feels way too long, but I would just like to say that can we just minus 2 years of Covid (laughs)? On a serious note, I am working constantly. After Calendar Girls, I worked in Ishq Forever (2016) and in multiple web series, my favourite one being Runaway Lugaai with Sanjay Mishra ji. I won a Filmfare nomination for it as well.
It’s been a fab, cool ride. With Mastiii 4, I am happy to finally land an opportunity that will hopefully reach more people. I feel that I have done a lot of work with some brilliant artists. However, that work never reached too many people. Since Mastiii 4 is a big franchise film and a theatrical release, I am hoping that people will come to see it and thereby, they’ll get to see my work.
You still look the same as you did 10 years ago…
Yes, because I started very early (laughs). Also, in the middle, I was studying law too.
How did you bag Mastiii 4?
A meeting was arranged between me, director Milap Zaveri and the producers. We had a long discussion and they realized that I was good for this role. They narrated the script and my character to me, which I absolutely loved. I was also impressed with Milap’s passion.

Yes, and I have always liked him as a person and director. His passion is unmatched.
How is he on the sets? Does he become different or is he the same person as he’s off-set - kind, humble and sweet?
He’s the same person. He’s really funny and calm; that’s what I like about him a lot. In the most difficult of situations, he would be at peace and would also be reassuring.
How was the experience of working with Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani?
They were very fun people to work with. They were also very humble, respectful and kind-hearted. They have been a part of this franchise from the very start. I was the new addition. When you go to meet somebody in their house and they welcome you with open arms, you feel comfortable. That’s what happened to me. They were also very encouraging. If I did a scene well, they did not shy away from telling me, ‘Good job’. Vivek sir encouraged me a lot. Aftab was amazing; he’s opposite me in the film. He’s extremely handsome and my family members and my girlfriends are his big fans because he’s so cute. Apart from being a brilliant actor, he’s very good-looking; he’s Prince Charming!
Did they play pranks?
They were all pranksters and really fun to work with. They were always laughing and I loved their energy. Mastiii 4 is a fun film and we had a lot of fun shooting it as well. People would sense it when they see the film that we were having a ball while shooting it. I didn’t get pranked per se, but everyone else and I had a great time.
The song ‘Rasiya Balama’ is out and it has intrigued me about the film and its plot. Mastiii 4 seems a bit different from the other films of the franchise…
This is a different Masti for sure. It's the same, same but different. I mean, it’s a brand-new dish with the same masala (smiles)!
Mastiii 4 trailer was slammed by a section of the netizens. How do you react to it?
I don’t react to it. I feel that one should not judge a book by its cover. Also, Masti has been a very successful franchise. This is a sex comedy; it is a film where you go, laugh your heart out and come back feeling light-hearted.
While replying to one such negative comment, Milap Zaveri said that the film has a very strong female point of view…
Yes, this time, the girls are very strong. There are several twists in the narrative. All women should also go watch it as they, too, will have a great time.
Will you go to the cinema halls to check the reaction?
Absolutely! I am very excited to go to the cinema halls. I hope a lot of people come and watch the film. Grab your popcorn and cold drink and enjoy the show!
