Leaving a void in the Indian music industry, singer KK passed away on the night of May 31 in Kolkata, shortly after his live concert in the city. Renowned singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK made his way to the hearts of the audience with songs like ‘Aankhon Maie Teri’, ‘Yaaron’, ‘Tadap Tadap’, ‘Dus Bahane’, ‘Khuda Jaane’ and many other hit songs sung in different Indian languages.
In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2019, the singer had spoken about what he does not like to be seen much, whether in front of cameras or on social media. While he is one of the most popular and successful singers in India, KK is hardly ever seen in public and enjoys keeping a low profile. When asked about the reason for the same, he had said, “Cameras don't make me very comfortable. I am right now comfortable because I am with you, but by myself, if I have to shoot something, I feel very awkward. I am very comfortable with the mic. Also, I feel the more you are seen, there is a part of you that goes away. In this sense, anonymity goes out of the window. I can still be anonymous in a lot of places. By the time people look at me for the second time, I will be out of there. So, it gives me a sense of freedom that I don't want to let go of. I am a very private person. I fiercely protect my privacy.”
On the other hand, his sudden demise has also raised concerns about the concert venue conditions in India. From overcrowding to overheating to suffocation, many singers are raising their voices against bad concert conditions.
