Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, at the age of 89. In an interview with NDTV, actress Saira Banu shared her heartfelt memories, calling his death "impossible to process." She recalled how legendary actor Dilip Kumar held Dharmendra like a younger brother, often visiting her home with Dharmendra to chat, eat, and sometimes drink together. “I will always remember him,” she said, overwhelmed with emotion.

Meanwhile, another report by Mid-Day quoted Banu saying, “He was a gem of a person and I have some wonderful, personal memories of him. The great success that Dharamji achieved as a hero is something else and the personality that he was — loving, humble and grounded that is yet another aspect of his life. The qualities that everybody loved him for.”

Dharmendra was admitted recently to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital due to breathing difficulties, reportedly requiring ventilator support. After showing signs of recovery, he was discharged but continued to reside at his farmhouse in Khandala with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, having moved from Mumbai amid rising pollution concerns.

His demise comes amid a series of recent losses in the Indian film fraternity, including veterans like Pankaj Dheer, Asrani, Satish Shah, and advertising legend Piyush Pandey. On Monday, several prominent film personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan, arrived at the Pawan Hans crematorium to pay their last respects to Dharmendra. The solemn event saw heavy police deployment as stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Zayed Khan joined alongside family members and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur to bid farewell to the beloved actor.
