Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024: “Even Karan Johar can’t direct us,” says Maheep Kapoor on the filmmaker’s involvement in Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives

The Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024 and India Entertainment Awards kicked off with a bang on October 3 at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai. The inaugural day featured several insightful panel discussions with prominent figures from the Indian OTT industry. The second day on October 4 commenced with several interesting panellists, including Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives season 3 stars Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Seema Kiran Sajdeh and Bhavana Pandey, who talked about their reality series and what can one expect from season three. Talking about producer Karan Johar, they talked about his involvement in conceptualising the show.

At the panel, Maheep Kapoor said, “See, everyone knows the story that we were on a private plane going for a funeral, and he brought up this show topic there. He said ‘Listen, I am going to do a show with all of you guys.’ He was just seeing that we were just so crazy and such car floats on flight. I thought he was joking. But having said that, now, come to season three, yes, he's always there for us. He's always a phone call away from us. He is there, I think, mentally and like someone to lean on. But does he get into the nitty gritty the show? No. Because he's unleashed us on the show. You know, you can't direct us. It's impossible, not even Karan Johar. So, he's just left us. But he's always there.”

To which, Bhavana Pandey added, “I think Karan is there to pull down all the fires, little fires everywhere. If there are any, he's there to put them out.” At this point, Seema joked, “He starts the fires too.”

Neelam Kothari added, “He’s invested in this show, for sure. Because, I mean, I know that he watches the scenes that we've shot, and he plays an integral part in this – selecting cast, first of all. It's his baby, it's his brain child. So, I think he is interested.”

The series featuring Bhavana Panday, Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari Soni, and Seema Kiran Sajdeh is set to launch its latest chapter, titled Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives on October 18 on Netflix. Joining the ranks are notable personalities Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister, alongside fashionista and philanthropist Shalini Passi, and Kalyani Saha Chawla.
