Popular South actor Dulquer Salmaan recently spoke about the difference between his generation of actors and current generations' actors. During Bollywood Hungama’s Hangout, he said that his generation is more "overthinking and paranoid" about the success of their films, while the older generation was more relaxed about it.
"I think my generation of actors is very different from the older generation of actors," Salmaan said. "For them, it (the success of a film) didn't matter so much. They didn't think that if one film didn't work their careers are over. They are okay with giving averages, and there are so many movies coming out in a year. Some work, some don't work. They just keep doing whereas we're like oh my God if this film tanks I'm finished I'm done I'm out of work nobody's gonna call me anymore. I think we are a little more overthinking and paranoid."
Salmaan further explained that he believes this is because his generation of actors cares more about the work they put in. "I also think that means you care so much," he said. "If you don't care about the outcome you don't care about the work you put in. You might just be really unaffected but there are some actors who are very Zen."
When asked to name someone who is like that, Salmaan said, "I've heard Ranbir [Kapoor] is like that. I don't think hit or flop, nothing affects him, he's like [M. S.] Dhoni. I'm like I want to be like you."
Speaking of the professional front, Dulquer is currently seen in the Netflix original show, Guns And Gulaabs. Meanwhile, his Pan-India film King Of Kotha also released in theatres recently.
