Dulquer Salmaan, the Malayalam superstar who has also made a name for himself in Bollywood, recently opened up about his father's reaction when he told him he wanted to become an actor.
In the third episode of Bollywood Hungama’s Hangout, a fan meet and greet event, Salmaan said that his father, Mammootty, is a very protective father and that he was initially hesitant to let his son follow in his footsteps.
"He is a very protective father and I think he's always encouraged me to do “other things” because when you're in the movies it's like you're putting your kid out there and like anyone can say anything, curse and abuse them, and break their confidence," Salmaan said. "So I think that was very scary for him."
Salmaan said that his father told him that he could not protect him from the harsh realities of the film industry and would have to make his own way. "He's like are you sure you want to do this and he's like you know I can't protect you I can't come there and act for you. You're all this is all you on your own," Salmaan said.
However, Salmaan said that his father never stopped him from pursuing his dreams and that he has always supported his career. "He said you know it's your life you should do what you want but I'm not gonna make any calls I'm not going to ask any favours. I had nobody to help me figure this out on your own."
Speaking of the work front, DQ was recently seen in the Netflix original show Guns And Gulaabs and a feature film, King Of Kotha.
