Actor Aparshakti Khurana is set to make his Tamil film debut with ROOT: Running Out Of Time, which also stars Gautham Ram Karthik. The film is written and directed by Sooriyaprathap S and is backed by Verus Productions.
Speaking about how he came on board the project, Aparshakti shared that his decision was influenced by the director’s previous work. He said, “I saw the rushes of a web series that the film’s director Sooriyaprathap sir had made, and it looked promising. So, I decided to collaborate with him.”
The actor also opened up about the challenges of performing in a language he does not naturally think in. Calling it a difficult process, he explained, “It’s difficult to enact in a language that you are not thinking in.” Aparshakti added that he often had to think in English first, translate his thoughts, and then deliver the dialogue, which affected his spontaneous reactions during scenes. However, he said the team prepared through workshops before shooting began.
Aparshakti also spoke about how audiences today are more open to films across different languages. He noted that the growing acceptance of regional cinema has made it easier for actors to explore opportunities beyond their primary industries. Talking about ROOT, the actor said the film stands apart from his previous work. “It’s extremely different from what I’ve done so far,” he said, adding that he is now considering more projects in Tamil.
Apart from ROOT, Aparshakti confirmed he is currently working on his first action film Gunmaaster G9. He also has Badtameez Gill lined up, a film based on a Punjabi family, where he will be seen alongside Vaani Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Sheeba Chadha.
