Anurag Kashyap had a fascinating conversation with Komal Nahta and as expected, minced no words when asked about various things about the film industry. He gave an interesting answer when asked about the trend of self-buying of tickets by producers. It is also often referred to as corporate booking.

Anurag said, “It’s a new practice. You are lying to yourself. This has been my problem with the industry. When you lie to yourself, you’ll not even realize that kya accha hai aur kya bura. How would you then evolve? How would you grow? Hence, you are limiting yourself from Juhu to Bandra. You simply want to brag about one of the film parties between Juhu and Bandra (about your film’s collections).”
When asked what he would like to tell such producers, Anurag answered, “I don’t know. I have said a lot but no one listens to me. A lot of people say that I am frustrated, I have no kaam dhanda and I keep on complaining. But (the ones indulging in self-booking), you are living in delusion. And you want to maintain that bubble. What are you getting out of it? At the end of the day, aap jab ghar aa ke sote ho, aapko apni sacchai pata hai. You are just doing it for show-off and to maintain a delusion.”
He drew parallels with his experience in Rajasthan, “When I went to make Gulaal (2009) in Rajasthan, I saw that many people had ‘tad’ though the era of Raja-Maharaja was over. Their houses were empty but they still felt that they were royal. They are still living in the past. It’s the same thing here.”
In a rapid-fire round, Anurag was also asked who was the most popular Khan out of the three. He said, “Shah Rukh Khan is the most popular, followed by Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan is the hardest-working and shrewdest of all 3, as a producer (smiles).”
