Anukalp Goswami on working with Asrani
Speaking about collaborating with the late actor, Anukalp said, “It was amazing to work with Asrani ji. It truly felt like a dream come true. When Sholay was released, its dialogues were available on cassettes. I used to listen to them and mimic Asrani sir.”
He recalled a memorable moment during the film’s narration: “While explaining his scene, I unknowingly started imitating him. He looked at me, and I suddenly realised what I was doing. We exchanged a smile, and he patted my shoulder and said, ‘Continue.’ I narrated the entire sequence in that style. He delivered wonderful work in the film, and when audiences see it, they will remember him fondly.”
Anukalp also shared that they bonded over their Jaipur roots, saying Asrani was not just a remarkable actor but also a warm and humble person.
