Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartwarming moment from the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 in his latest Tumblr blog. The actor, who often uses the platform to document his daily experiences as an actor and host, wrote about an emotional encounter with an 86-year-old fan who travelled from Pune to Mumbai just to meet him.
According to Amitabh, the elderly woman had been watching Kaun Banega Crorepati since it first aired in the year 2000. She stayed through the entire shoot of the episode, and later met the actor near the hot seat. In the pictures he shared, the woman was seen greeting him with folded hands, while Amitabh responded with a warm smile.
In his blog, he wrote in Hindi, “ये वृद्ध देवी माँ, केबीसी की बहुत बड़ी प्रशंसक, २५ सालों से देख रही है - ८६ यानी 86 years की उम्र है, और पुणे से केवल मिलने आई हैं ।। मैं उन्हें चरण स्पर्श करता हूँ, और आदर स्नेह सहित प्रणाम करता हूँ,” which he translated as, “She is 86 years old and came all the way from Pune just to meet me. She has been watching the show since its inception in 2000. I touched her feet and took her blessings.”
Amitabh added that her warmth and dedication deeply moved him, writing, “She sat through an entire episode, met me, and left… such grace and charm. I am indebted to have the blessings of such a person.”
The actor also mentioned that the contestant on the “hot seat” that day was a blogger who read his posts regularly. He admitted feeling “embarrassed” but appreciated the admiration. “She said she was inspired by the blog. Oh dear, now I shall have to be more guarded in what I say. The love, affection, and encouragement from the audience has been overwhelming. May the Almighty bless you and keep you in good health,” he wrote.
Calling the experience a day of learning, Amitabh shared that he gained insights on everything from yoga to software programming during the episode. “My immense gratitude. Keep coming and educating me. I must learn more, read more, write more,” he added.
On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, became a major box-office success, crossing Rs. 1,000 crores worldwide. Amitabh’s portrayal of Ashwatthama received widespread praise from audiences and critics alike.
