Alia Bhatt made waves with her debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year. Representing L'Oréal Paris as their global brand ambassador, Alia turned heads with each of her red-carpet appearances at the French Riviera. Her final look, a modern, reimagined saree by Gucci, made a strong style statement. Notably, Alia is also a global ambassador for the Italian fashion house.

During a conversation with Brut India at Cannes, the Jigra actress opened up about her admiration for Malayalam cinema and its talented actors. Alia spoke highly of actor Fahadh Faasil, saying, “Fahadh Faasil is someone I really admire. He is such a fantastic actor. Aavesham was one of my favourite films — he was just unreal in it. I would love to collaborate with him someday.”

She also praised Roshan Matthew, with whom she worked in the 2022 dark comedy Darlings. “I had the good fortune of working with Roshan Matthew on Darlings. He is such a wonderful actor and has done a lot of Malayalam content. He’s now making waves in Hindi films too,” she said.

Alia reflected on how the pandemic changed the way audiences engage with cinema across languages and regions. “The one thing the pandemic taught me is that we're actually one unit. Now that everything is available on a global platform, you can watch any kind of content. That kind of exposure is huge,” she said.

On the work front, Alia is currently filming for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, where she stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
