Aamir Khan calls Rangeela his “most favourite” as it re-releases in theatres after 30 years

Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar’s cult classic Rangeela is all set to return to the big screen nearly 30 years after its original release, giving audiences a chance to relive one of Bollywood’s most iconic romantic dramas. Ahead of the re-release, Aamir expressed his excitement and called the Ram Gopal Varma directorial one of his personal favourites.

In a special video shared by Ultra Play, Aamir urged fans to revisit Rangeela in theatres when it reopens on November 28 in a refreshed 4K HD format. Speaking fondly about the film, he said in Hindi, “This is one of my most favourite films. I really enjoyed playing my character in it. And it has amazing songs, AR Rahman was at his peak. Urmila’s performance is outstanding, and Jaggu (Jackie Shroff) has also done a great job.”

Aamir also took a moment to remember his late co-star Rajesh Joshi, who played the character Pakya. Praising his performance, the actor said, “There is another actor in the film with me whose character was named Pakya, and the actor’s name was Rajesh Joshi... he did a fantastic job. He was an excellent actor, and this was his first film. He was also in Sarfarosh afterward, but he passed away very soon in a motorcycle accident. The industry lost a very talented actor.”

Reflecting on the memories attached to the film, Aamir added, "And Ram Gopal Varma made an exceptional film. You can enjoy this film once again in theatres from November 28. I hope you all like it. Loads of love.”
