As November 12 marks 16 years since the North American release of Slumdog Millionaire, Anil Kapoor took a moment to reflect on the Oscar-winning film’s impact. The film, which became a cultural sensation and critical triumph, brought Kapoor into the global spotlight with his portrayal of Prem Kumar, a game show host in the film led by Dev Patel.
Slumdog Millionaire took the world by storm, winning eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. This unforgettable film also swept seven BAFTA Awards, five Critics' Choice Awards, and four Golden Globes, solidifying its place in cinematic history.
Kapoor took to social media to mark the milestone, sharing a nostalgic image from the film and writing, “On the 12th of November, 16 years back, *Slumdog Millionaire* released in North America and spread like wildfire all over the planet... how time flies. This film keeps on giving, not only enriching my life with cherished relationships but also, in a rare way, continuing to provide financially. In today’s world, that’s something special. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity and for the incredible people who made it possible, especially Danny Boyle, Paul Smith, and Christian Collson… #16YearsOfSlumdogMillionaire.”
On the work front, Anil Kapoor will next star in Subedaar, his first collaboration with director Suresh Triveni.
