The success of HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN gave birth to several trends
* One, family entertainers took over in a big way, with the characters of chacha-chachi, mausa-maasi, devar-devrani, being incorporated in every second Hindi flick. * Two, long/lengthy titles were considered the 'in' thing then. * Three, more and more songs were being recorded and incorporated in films.
The trend of having more than 10 songs in a two-hour-thirty-minute film is likely to resurface with the release of DIL VIL PYAR VYAR. For, according to Viveck Vaswani, one of the producers of the film, there are 16 songs in the film (14, plus 2 repetitions).
I've spent a cool Rs. 80 lakhs on the recordings alone. The film is a tribute to R.D. Burman and hopefully, the songs should prove one of the main attractions in luring the audience to cinema halls, Viveck tells me.
Will this trend work? I am optimistic. We've just had two shows of the film and the response has been electrifying, Viveck states, Anyways, we still have time till October 18 (D.V.P.V. releases worldwide on this date!). If we decide to trim the film, we may be prompted to delete a song or two.
