Was talking to a topnotch producer at Zee head Subhash Chandra Goel's party last weekend and as the conversation veered towards the flops that left us semi-conscious in May and June [LAKEER, RUN, YUVA, UUF KYA JAADOO MOHABBAT HAI!, AAN, DEV, LAKSHYA, DEEWAAR], the producer made several valid observations: Despite so many flops, have things stopped moving? Are producers not planning any more projects? Are our stars twiddling their thumbs at home? The answer to all three questions is negative! Every producer you talk to is planning multiple projects, despite the fact that the number of buyers in almost every territory has dwindled considerably. Every actor you meet says he's busy for the next one or two years. No dates to spare, unless something exciting crops up, they echo. How does one explain a situation like this?
