Though the new eagerly-awaited Ajay Devgn action-dance film Action Jackson has been cleared by the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) with a 'UA' certificate-which means Prabhu Dheva and Ajay Devgn's young fans can watch the film accompanied by a parent-there is one particular word that has been deleted from the soundtrack.
It's the word 'temple'.
Apparently during one of his monologues Ajay Devgn mentioned the 'T' word. The CBFC immediately asked the word 'temple' to be deleted from Devgn's dialogues.
Confirming this Prabhu Dheva says, "Yes, we were asked to delete the word 'temple' We readily did so since it made no difference to the dialogue. And we substituted it with the word 'statue'. It was no problem at all."
The larger question here is, are the censor board members being extra-sensitive to words connected to religion?
Ironically, Prabhu Dheva and the Action Jackson producer Goardhan Tanwani were on trip to pray to the Gods when I contacted them for their reaction.
Prabhu was in Kochi visiting a favourite temple with Tanwani. After which they headed for Tirupathi to seek the Gods' blessings for his film.
