Music Company Saregama is unveiling an album called Simply Sameer today, on the eve of lyricist Sameers birthday. They are coming out with a compilation of the best and most popular numbers penned by Sameer in this album.
Sameer sounds excited about the album and says, This was Kulmeet Makkars (CEO of Saregama) idea to launch an album on my birthday. I have written many songs for their company so they planned to make an album of hit songs that I wrote for Saregama. Its like a gift for me from Saregama on my birthday.
So what will you get to hear on Simply Sameer? Most of the hit songs that I wrote at the start of my career, reveals Sameer. This album is very special to me as I shared a nice bond with Saregama. They were so keen to launch this album as this is the only company which is yet to release my album.
Sameer also informs that Saregama is now planning to launch an album of song penned by his father Anjaan. They are also planning to come out with an album of songs written by my father. An interesting thing about this album is that I will recite some lines about my father, his career and his songs before each song. This will be one rare combination between me and my father.
His father Anjaan was a popular lyricist who started in 60s and ruled the music scene for almost 3 decades. The current generation can identify him as the man who wrote Khaike Pan Banasarwala from the original Don. Ask him about his bonding with his father and Sameer replies, My father was my friend and my guru. He was everything for me. Whatever I am today is only because of my father. He showed me this way of my life. He was one of the finest people that I have ever known in my life.
Interestingly just some time back Sameer had his biography released through Amitabh Bachchan and Yash Chopra. So hows his journey in Bollywood been over the years? Its been a very adventurous, exciting and satisfying journey. I started writing at an early stage of my life. I have completed 25 years in the industry and I am very happy with my position, career and my achievements. I do not have any regrets. So who were his inspirations? There are many people who have been my inspiration in life. I am a great admirer of Majrooh Sultanpuri and Anand Bakshi
Sameer is still one of the most popular lyricists in Bollywood. He made news when Sanjay Leela Bhansali signed him for Saanwariyaan last year. His forthcoming films include Vikram Bhatts Red, Raj Kanwars aqueeb and Suneel Darshans Shakalaka Boom Boom. Then he is also writing for Himeshs film Aap Ka Suroor and two of Abbas Mustans films Race and Naqab.
