Samir Karnik’s next with Bobby Deol titled Curfew

Though the two senior Deols, Dharmendra and his elder son Sunny Deol, are doing a film with Anil Sharma, instead of their Yamla Pagla Deewana director Samir Karnik, the youngest Deol scion Bobby has decided to go along with his buddy Karnik. The two are now going to be working on a film titled Curfew, a hard-hitting drama based on the 1984 Hindu-Sikh riots.

Karnik who is at the moment writing his script admits his next film will star only Bobby and the not the other two Deols.

Says Karnik, "I'm indeed making a film with Bobby next. But that doesn't mean I've had any kind of stress with the Deols. The sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana is work under progress. With Bobby, I share a completely different equation as compared with Sunny. With Sunny I'm formal. Bobby is my buddy. He has starred in every single film of mine, from my first film Nanhe Jaisalmer to Yamla Pagla Deewana. Recently when I won the equivalent of Rs. 1 lakh for Nanhe Jaisalmer at a film festival, Bobby and I freaked out."

About the Deols doing a film with their old family friend Anil Sharma, Karnik comments, "We aren't bonded to do films together forever. But yes, I'd never direct a film without Bobby. I'm glad Dharamji, Sunny and Bobby are doing a 3D film. In fact we were supposed to make parts of Yamla Pagla Deewana in 3D. But the economics didn't work out."

Shedding light on his film with Bobby, Samir says, "Curfew will be an international film. We'll shoot it outside India."
