‘Rudraksh’: Modern-Day ‘Ramayana’

Producer Nitin Manmohan is going from strength to strength. With RUDRAKSH [Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty] scheduled for release next Friday and TANGO CHARLIE [Ajay Devgan, Bobby Deol, Tanisha with Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty in sp. app.], the film-maker is all set to start multiple projects. Anubhav Sinha will direct the first project, which will star Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, one more hero and four heroines [currently under finalisation]. The film, not titled as yet, will roll shortly. Close on the heels of this film, Nitin will begin filming yet another project, to be directed by Puneet Sira [I PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN]. It will star real-life cousins Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan together for the first time. We're currently talking to Nana Patekar to enact a pivotal role, Nitin informs me. As for RUDRAKSH, a media briefing of the film on February 4 at Hotel Le Meridien [Sahar] met with a positive response. It's a modern-day interpretation of Ramayana. Sanju plays the present-day Ram, while Suniel will be seen as the present-day Ravana, Nitin adds. RUDRAKSH has shaped up wonderfully well, Sanju tells me, It's not to be mistaken as India's answer to MATRIX, but it is path-breaking in the sense that we've tried to attempt something different this time around. Suniel seconds Sanju's statement, The media has always been the first to raise its voice against the mediocrity that is being churned out regularly. So, here's an attempt to provide something refreshingly different from the oft-repeated, mundane stuff. We'll always be proud of RUDRAKSH.
