Mallika Sherawat v/s Priyadarshan drama has taken a new turn. Though it was widely believed that one had heard the last of controversy around the item song in Tezz, there is a twist in the tale. Also, it is Priyadarshan who is now having the final say, what with the song being totally snipped off the film.
"Priyan Sir was always against the song from the very beginning. Now a call has been taken the song won't feature in the film at all. Leave aside it not being included in the running length of the film; it won't even feature in the end credit title rolls, as is the norm for such item numbers. Of course Mallika can't be expected to be happy about this and even Sameera Reddy may be seen smiling secretly somewhere around the corner. Still, the fact remains that everything now seems to have fallen in line, what with Priyan Sir taking the final call", informs our well placed source.
Though one wonders if Mallika is flummoxed with the current developments, those close to the makers insist that they were prepared for such eventuality since the song was always a last minute call and hence the probability of it being fitted in the film's narrative was almost as close to nil.
"No, Mallika shouldn't be bothered since she was always in loop around the song being picturised only for the promotional reasons", a close associate of the film's producer comes in his defense, "Ratanji (Ratan) is always fair in his deals. He has been in the business for decades now and would never short-change any actor. Though it may seem like Priyan Sir is having the final laugh, the fact is that even Ratanji wasn't too inclined to include the song within the film from the very beginning. He had told Mallika about this and the song was picturised keeping in mind that it would never make it to the big screen."
However, many in the business believe that the decision to chop off the song from the final edit (and not even include in the end credits roll) has been a knee jerk reaction owing to all the controversy surrounding it.
"Whatever be the case, it has added on to the film's promotional drive", a PR expert comments, "Tezz fortune wasn't dependent on the song in any case since it has been pitched as a high octane action thriller. The film ultimately belongs to Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy. Mallika was roped in to add on to the spice and she did what she was asked to do. Now even if the song is not featuring in the film, the job is done."
