Tezz director Priyadarshan wants Mallika Sherawat's item number 'Laila' removed out from the final edit of the film as he feels that the song doesn't fit into the film.
Mallika was brought on board by producer Ratan Jain in spite of Priyadarshan wanting the film's actress Sameera Reddy to gyrate on the track. Jain went went ahead and shot the song with choreographer Ganesh Acharya.
Priyadarshan doesn't have anything against item numbers or Mallika Sherawat, but it is just that he feels that there is no scope for this song in the film as the film is a complete action thriller. The song was shot without Priyadarshan or any other crew member and looks different from the rest of the film. While producer Ratan Jain feels that the audience won't care if the song looks different from the rest of the film, for them it is just an item number and as a businessman he needs to include this song as it sells.
The producer and director will be having a meeting today where a final call regarding the the song will be taken.
