More and more dress designers are changing tracks!

Manish Malhotra has set his sights at film direction. Like we informed you last week, the ace designer has just finished scripting his new film that is likely to star Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. Of course, Manish has denied that he has penciled the real-life jodi for his project. Another dress designer seems to be following in Manish's footsteps - Kanwaljit Singh - who has been in the industry for more than 20 years and has been associated with several big names and projects. Kanwal is working on his first film, titled RAINBOW - COLOURS OF LIFE, which he describes as a love triangle with a difference. It's about a guy, his wife and the woh in the man's life - the woh is not a woman, but a man, Kanwal reveals. However, Kanwal denies that he got the inspiration to start the film after Karan Razdan started GIRL FRIEND - which, again, is a love triangle with a difference. Kanwal clarifies, I had been toying with the idea of starting my film much before Karan Razdan started GIRL FRIEND. My film is more of an emotional journey. It's all about delicate moments in three people's lives. There aren't 'bedroom scenes' please. I want families to watch my movie! Is RAINBOW an autobiography? Yes, you can say that, but it's not completely based on any one person's life. When you watch the film, you'd realize that it could be any person's story, who finds himself in similar circumstances, he reveals. Kanwal is aiming the film at the international markets primarily. I plan to release the film in the U.S., U.K. and European markets before releasing my labour of love in India, he adds. Currently, journalist turned script writer Patrick Biswas is in the midst of scripting the film. Now to the important question - whom has he decided to cast in the film? Nothing is finalized at the moment, though we keep thinking of names every day. But if given a choice, I'd like to have Juhi Chawla enact the role of the wife. She has the innocence to carry off this part with ?n, he adds. And how about the two guys in the film? Has he zeroed on any actors? Kanwal maintains a stoic silence when asked about it. Just wait and watch, is all that he states.
