The makers of Joker are a worried lot. Detention of Minissha Lamba yesterday evening at Mumbai airport resulted in quite a few anxious moments for director Shirish Kunder and his crew as no one was sure about how things would progress from this point on.
"Joker has just entered its second schedule in Mumbai and Minissha was supposed to arrive at the sets immediately after landing from Cannes", informs a source from the film's crew, "There were scenes that required her but once Shirish got to know about her detention, he had to bring in some change in plans."
For the uninitiated, yesterday Minissha Lamba was detained by the Mumbai Customs for not declaring diamond jewellery worth Rs. 50 lakhs. With no respite in sight till late in the night, there were some nervous moments about the real status of Minissha with the word 'arrest' looming large over the petite actress. Also, since everything just happened in a jiffy, it was tough for the crew to comprehend what would happen next.
"There is a massive set at the cost of Rs. 3 crores that has been erected for Joker. Entire cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade and Minissha are supposed to be participating during this schedule. If Minissha's detention would have continued for long, that would have caused serious damage to the schedule. Not just the cost of filming would have been seen an escalation, it would also have been tough to get hold of combination dates of all four actors, not to forget quite a few other character artists", the source continues.
While Shirish went ahead and captured some other shots for the film which could have done without Minissha, he is said to have made some desperate calls to figure out of all was indeed well, both on personal as well as professional front.
"It isn't as dramatic as it sounds", said Shirish when contacted, "I can afford to shoot without her for a day or two. Also, more than just the shooting part, I was concerned about how she was coping up with this issue. She is the youngest amidst all of us and everyone is quite protective about her."
Guess Shirish would have to adjust his schedule even more for a day or two at the least. As things stand now, Minissha was finally let off this morning after 16 hours of questioning. However, this is not the end of it as she is likely to be questioned again by the Customs.
"We all are standing by her", said Shirish on behalf of entire team of Joker before hanging up.
