Manish Paul, the popular television anchor and VJ, is making his debut with film Mickey Virus directed by debutant Saurabh Varma. While the director was keen on taking an established actress for the film, Manish was keen on having someone new to ensure a fresh pairing. Little did they know that, the girl they chose after auditioning 200 girls would be someone who has her roots deeply connected in films.
Elli Avram, who has been finalized to play the lead opposite Manish, is from Greece and is the daughter of Swedish actress Maria Granlund who has worked with Ingmar Bergman in Oscar winning film Fanny and Alexander and has been doing a lot of theatre in Sweden. Says director Saurabh, “We had approached few known female actors for the lead opposite Manish, but later we decided to cast a new face. We chose Elli through auditions because she fitted the bill perfectly. Later we got to know her identity when we met her mother. I am not surprised we found her so comfortable in front of camera while doing rehearsals.”
Mickey Virus is slated to go on floor in few days. The film is a comic thriller set in Delhi around the life of a Punjabi computer geek Mickey (played by Manish) who plans a con of a lifetime. The film is slated to release in May this year.
