Looks like sports films are the flavor of the season. From Farhan Akhtar to Priyanka Chopra to Arjun Kapoor, many of these actors have been associated with sports of late where they have been representing a sports legend or promoting a particular sport in their films. The recent entrant in this list is Kangna Ranaut.
After playing the conventional and innocent Rani in Queen, Kangna Ranaut will now take up the avatar of an athlete in the sequel to the hit rom-com Tanu Weds Manu. Elaborating on the role the actress will be playing, the director of the film Anand L. Rai stated that Kangna will be training to perform triple jumps since she will be portraying the role of a Haryanvi athlete in the film. We also hear that apart from Kangna's trainer Aakash Kuchekar, yet another physical trainer Suneeta Dubey who is experienced in triple jumps, will be roped in, to help Kangna prepare for the role. It is also being said that though the film is primarily based in Lucknow, scenes of the actress' athletic performances will be shot in Chandigarh.
Kangna Ranaut plays athlete in Tanu Weds Manu 2Though the prequel of the film saw a rather carefree and free spirited Tanu played by Kangna with aplomb, this time around it is her sporty attitude that will give a twist to her character. Also, for the first time, we will get to see Kangna Ranaut in a double role.
Produced by Eros International and written by Himanshu Sharma, Tanu Weds Manu will also star R. Madhavan once again as the male lead with South superstar Dhanush doing a cameo.
