Gaurang Doshi is an enterprising man and loves to do things with panache. This was evident when he launched his ambitious project DEEWAAR LET'S BRING OUR HEROES HOME with pomp and gaiety. The event was held on Thursday, February 27 at Taj Lands End, Bandra. Besides the impressive star cast Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna the cr? de la cr? of the entertainment industry was present on the occasion to celebrate the launch. The launch of this flick was different in the sense that there was no coconut breaking ritual or sounding the clapper board ceremony. Instead, the lead men the Big B, Sanju and Akshaye unveiled their giant-sized pictures and thereafter, clicked the remote for the screening of the one-minute promo. Gaurang and director Milan Luthria had especially shot a promo of the film, focusing on the three stars of the film, which was screened to the august gathering. A slick product, it depicted the Big B as a prisoner of war, Akshaye wanting to help him, but Sanjay, who could help, but did not want to. The screening over, the Big B spoke about his association with Vinod Doshi, with whom the star had worked in NASTIK years ago and recalled how, at a time when the film was taking a long time to complete, the star had introduced his son Abhishek (a toddler then!) to Doshi Sr., joking that if the delay persists, Abhishek would step in his shoes and complete the project. Jokes apart, the Big B later spoke highly of Gaurang's management skills as a producer during the making of AANKHEN and said that he was happy to be a part of the new project DEEWAAR, also because he would be sharing the screen with Sanju (he's family) and Akshaye (one of the most talented names on Indian screen). Akshaye spoke next and besides thanking the Big B for the compliment, said that he was mesmerised by the script when he heard the narration from writer Sridhar Raghavan. Sanju, on his part, sounded equally excited and said that he looked forward to the film, also because it starred his idol Bachchan. DEEWAAR will be shot in Rajasthan, Bhuj, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai and is expected to hit the screens in the summer of 2004. It has music by Aadesh Shrivastava, action by Tinu Verma, cinematography by Nirmal Jani and art by Jayant Deshmukh. The glitterati and chatterati of Mumbai had a whale of a time at this do!
