For videshi eyes mainly

EKLAVYA THE ROYAL GUARD didnt set the cash registers jingling in India, but the film has fared well in certain pockets of the Overseas territory, besides winning tremendous critical acclaim from the international media. Perhaps, that has prompted Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the creator of EKLAVYA, to give the film a fresh release in the U.S. EKLAVYA was released in America simultaneously with its India release, but this time around, EKLAVYA will be released as art house cinema in the U.S. Chopra has decided to target the film at non-Indian moviegoers -- the Westerners -- releasing at movieplexes frequented by them. Yes, we are looking at the possibility of releasing EKLAVYA as art house cinema in the U.S., Vidhu Vinod Chopra confirms the development, The glowing reviews that the film received and also the Q & A session that we had after its screening at UCLA inspired and encouraged us to take this step. The dignitaries showered the film with praises and were keen to know when it would make it at mainline American cinemas. The praises havent stopped pouring in yet. We are screening EKLAVYA for Robert De Niro this month. Recently, when I was returning from London, I bumped into Jake Gyllenhaal [BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN] and we generally got talking. He remembered reading its [EKLAVYA] glowing review and is keen to watch it, Chopra adds. Chopra says he has already dispatched the new prints to the U.S. We are looking at the possibility of releasing it in June. Kishore Lulla [of Eros] is already in talks with people there, he adds.
