His film Rowdy Rathore may have been one of the biggest openers at BO, however Sanjay Leela Bhansali isn't rejoicing. In a first, Bhansali had to dish out a whopping Rs. 50 lakh in an out-of court settlement with Hyderabad based music label Aditya Music that claims it owns the rights of the song 'Chintata' from Rowdy Rathore.
Though the film has been doing roaring business, the makers were slapped with a legal notice from the music company over the hit track. Wanting to steer clear of legal tangles, Bhansali opted for an out-of-court settlement with the company. The reason behind the suit was that though Bhansali bought the rights of the film, he did not realise the rights of the song were with the music company. Later, the track was recreated for Rowdy Rathore by Sajid-Wajid. However, once the track was released, Aditya Music sent a legal notice to Bhansali who took it to UTV.
Opting out of the legal tussle, Bhansali settled for an out of court settlement to avoid the entire farce surrounding the litigation process.
