In what may be called a massive setback for the Indian film's music division, a court in Bangladesh has banned the use of Indian film tracks as mobile ringtones and welcome tones. As per its ruling, songs from India and other nations in the sub-continent come within its purview. The said order that was issued after hearing a writ petition filed in June by Music Industries Owners Association President AKM Arifur Rahman and General Secretary SK Shahed Ali, the court presided by justices Farah Mahbub and Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo ruled the above.
With this new ruling, Indian majors that have been furbishing Bangladeshi telcos with Bollywood centric CRBT's (Caller Ring Back Tones) and welcome tones will face a huge setback with the sudden omission of the country's 121 million subscribers.
