
After creating a nationwide storm over the issue of female foeticide in the first episode of his television show 'Satyamev Jayate', Aamir Khan met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday to discuss the grave issue existing in the state.
On the show, two journalists from Rajasthan, Meena Sharma and Shripal Shaktawat showed a sting operation carried out by them seven years ago. The sting operation had covered 140 doctors involved in sex determination tests and abortions of the girl child, in the state of Rajasthan.
Aamir and Rajasthan CM vow to fight female foeticideAamir asked the Rajasthan CM to take action against the people involved in the crime. Gehlot has now promised that he will take up the issue and set a fast track court with the state chief justice.
Addressing a press conference Aamir said, "I have requested the Chief Minister to take action against the people who were shown in my programme through sting operation."
At the press conference, Gehlot told the media, "Aamir's programme has created an environment against female foeticide...I congratulate Aamir for finding time out of his busy Bollywood career to take up such a serious issue. We are doing a lot of work towards the issue. But to handle this problem we need the support of the state police. He has already done a lot through his show," Gehlot added.
