Expectations were sky high with a HR movie coming after almost 30 months.. As the movie started on, it created further curiosity... And by the end, I had the feeling that the story pulled it back from being a masterpiece.. Honestly, it was OLD wine in NEW bottle. Boy loves a girl and cons follow them,, it's nothing new.... Surely, the story is the biggest drawback of the film. But then, you have Hrithik in it. Thanks to Anurag Basu, as he hasn't spoiled the 2 hrs. The film has its moments with Hrithik and Barbara truly creating quite a chemistry. Hrithik doesn't let you down as he is admirable throughout. He dances, emotes and acts to near perfection. Barbara too was pretty impressive. Kangna had not much to do. CLIMAx was wonderful. But again, you certainly can't expect the mass to watch a film with sub-titles in the theater. I remember, the row next to me had some viewers commenting and yawning throughout. The taste of movies is changing, so don't write KITES off. The makers should be praised for attempting to make such a well composed film. Meanwhile, while stylizing, they forgot the backbone, the story.

anurag basu has tried doing a different kind of movie with hrithik and barbara but falls flat..it bores you and makes you sleep and when wake up the movie is still not over it goes on and on the climax too is also not very good..hrithik though has acted well and the camerawork and action scenes are good.average movie.

I think overall Kites is a great movie... its a good real love story... not so many manipulations…  

I think overall Kites is a great movie... its a good real love story... not so many manipulations are done to make the lead pair look good... not like a typical masala bollywood flick... pretty natural acting by both the lead pairs... i think the pace or the screenplay may not be digested well by many people ... who just wants those illogical kind of stuff... i think movies like kites can really help bollywood move further...

I saw Kites yesterday in Dubai..Starting was Awesome Hritik was too good and Barbara mori was so cute and beautiful...but i shocked bcz there was no fighting scenes and second half really not up to a mark.. story was very weak.. Overall gud movie....bcz of Hritik n Babara Mori

if you think about the story Line, that reminds you "Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage" Scared (Majboor) Girl, Sarak-Chap larka. Love Story. Violent Climex. The Difference is Story goes Bit International. And able direction of Anurag Basu. But I felt that he could not make it with free hands. because there were quite a few things which I was not expecting from Him. and Kangna Was complete wasted in the movie. Overall OK

Soothing breeze is blowing; romance is in the air and two fluttering kites get entangled with each other…and while doing so, they tie up the viewers as well, taking them in swings of varying emotions. The credit goes to none other than the one who is flying these kites; the director of this latest outing by the Roshans. I have always believed that the most important factor in making a movie memorable or forgettable, is the direction of the movie. Many times, we have seen brilliant scripts being wasted because of lose direction and on the other we have seen strictly mediocre scripts being transformed into movies that are really worth watching. “Kites” belongs to the later, where director Anurag Basu gets a script which is, to the max, an average material with a lot of borrowings from various movies from both Bollywood and Hollywood. Yet while watching the film, one gets a fresh and unique effect radiating frame after frame. This is only because of Anurag’s brilliant vision and his ability to transform it on the screen. The second force which comes ahead to compliment Anurag’s finesse is the performance of the lead pair. Hrithik Roshan captivates in each frame, and this captivity is not limited to his attractive physique, rather he drowns himself in his character and delivers a performance which re-establishes his immense talent and charisma. He, in a true sense, carries the film on his strong shoulders. He is as brilliant in the light moments, as he is in the intense ones. Barbara Mori, though looks awkward in few scenes, delivers an indulged performance. She uses her accent and her beautiful smile to the full affect. The third rescue force is the cinematography. Each frame pulls you to its core. Grand yet innocent; spectacular yet simple. It is beautifully tender in the romantic scenes, whereas handsomely striking in the actions sequences. On the flip side, Except for the lead pair, the characters are half-baked and insignificant. Specially the characters of Kangana and Kabir Bedi. These roles could’ve been acted by any B grade artists with similar effectiveness. It doesn’t mean the actors were bad, they just didn’t have any support from the script. Tony (the villian’s) character was also not properly elaborated. In spite of the brilliance of the movie, yet there are two factors which will work as a hurdle in attaining the success it deserves. First being the abundance of English and Spanish. Though I personally feel that it would’ve looked extremely artificial if Barbara’s character started speaking Hindi or Hrikthik started speaking Spanish. I believe this brings an authenticity in the movie, yet I know that this will displease the crowds. Second hurdle would be the climax of the movie, which might disappoint many. Though beautifully directed and performed, yet it leaves the viewer with a gloomy feeling, which might reduce the amount of pleasant words about the film. Despite these commercial hurdles, I really believe that “Kites” is a pretty decent love story to hit the cinemas after quite a while. Though I know the “Kites” might not fly as high as I wish they could, yet I am glad that I chose to watch them sway and flutter in the sky.

One has to watch this Movie to judge it! What is it that we want to see... If this same movie was a Hollywood movie.. everyone would have loved it cause of its action, screenplay etc... Watch the english version if you dont want to watch the songs... worth it!! I personally loved the hindi version as the songs are beautiful and not out of place at all! Well... an awesome movie based on all the above plus an awesome actor (Hrithik)! He rocks! What is everyone complaining about?? There was not one loose end in this movie! The screenplay was so beautifully done... Everything falls into place from the begining to the end... The way the story unfolds is awesome... Right upto the climax! Go watch it.... to believe it! All actors were great.... But of course apart from Hrithik... Barbara Mori was beautiful with her expressions... As that was the language she spoke in.
