This was a awesome movie. From the direction to the costumes to the cinematography to the dialogues the song etc, everyting was very very good. even though it was a 4 hr movie I'll didnt feel even once bored. very nice performance from every1 in the movie but esp Hrithik was outstanding as a mughal emperor. He looked every inch a royal.

What could have been an epic, has turned out to be a ‘test-your-patience’ movie. Jodha-Akbar had everything going for it - big budget, good director, popular starcast, and great publicity. But in the middle of all this, they forgot to add a gripping storyline and maybe ran out of budget to hire an editor. The film is so long that at times you think that you are watching an unedited version. One of my friends actually left the theatre during intermission! How can I forget the love song between Hrithik and Aish - it was dragging so much that people actually started yawning (if they hadn’t already done so)! So, is the movie really bad? No. The first 45 mins or so are the highlight of the film. As the characters are being introduced, the movie moves on at a decent pace. Nice fight sequences and no songs are the mainstay during this time. Hrithik made a very good attempt, but he didn’t ’sound’ like a king. Aish did the best she could. In the supporting cast, Ila Arun takes the cake. The actor playing Sharifudin was also good. At the end of the movie, you feel like ‘Ok, so what was the point? Why did you make this movie?’. The graph and conflicts in the movie are erratic. Hrithik’s bare body scene is great, but doesn’t gel with the story. Not to be harsh, but it seems like Mr.Gowarikar still has Lagaan hangover - in that he wants to make every film like an epic. With all said and done, I’d still say that you can see that lots of hard work has gone into it. P.S: Did Raza Murad have a makeup person at all? His beard looked fake from miles ;)

Hrithik leads the way with superlative performance………… This movie is going to be a new chapter in Indian film industry. Historical movies have poor history in box office. ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ will break that myth and emerge as one of big blockbusters of 2008. Kudos to Ashutosh Gowariker for making such a big budgeted film and making a movie of International standard. Indian cinema has moved forward. I had very less expectations and as an avid film watcher, I felt movie would fall flat. Hrithik Roshon has surprised me the most. He has gone into the skin of the character and leads the movie by giving a superlative performance. He truly deserves a national award for this performance and this is best career performance from him. In end of the movie, the character of emperor Akbar completely dominated superstar Hrithik Roshon. There is no doubt that he is one in four of the most handsome actors (Devanand, Dharmendra and Salman Khan are other three) of Hindi Film Industry ever. In recent past, two popular stars have failed playing historical characters in ‘Ashoka’ and ‘Mangal Pandey’ respectively. Hrithik has done about only fifteen films in last seven years but has as an actor; he has shown his variety playing different characters. In ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’, a superstar was born. In ‘Fiza’ and ‘Mission Kashmir’, he played a terrorist in them. In ‘Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham’, he kept on his own with actors like Amitabh Bachan and Shahrukh Khan. In ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, he played a mentally challenged character and then Army Officer in ‘Lakshya’. We watched a superhero in ‘Krishh’ and super cool villain in ‘Dhoom2’. Now he has proved his ability as young mughal emperor Akbar. His dialect and dialogue delivery in Urdu is very good. He is the pillar of the film. He stands out is some of the scenes like Ø His Entry Scene and the scene followed that, where he refuses the kill the king and tells his Uncle Bairam Khan to go to Mecca. Ø His scene, where he tames the elephant. Ø The scene, where he goes and meet Jodhaa for first time and listens to her wishes before marriage. Ø In scene, where he is practicing sword and Impressing Jodhaa. Ø The scene where he tells his soldiers to throw his brother down and when he doesn’t die in first time, then he again tells them to bring him up and throw him once again. Ø The last scene before the intermission between him and Jodhaa. Ø The sword fight between him and Jodhaa. Ø The scene where he goes to market as a commoner with his ministers. Ø The scene, where he abolishes the tax for Hindus for going to their religious places. Ø The final battle scene. Aishwariya Rai has also given a good performance and has complemented Hrithik well. It’s stupid to talk about her beauty. She is a no doubt most beautiful woman in earth. Other actors are okay. The film rests on shoulders of Hrithik Roshon and Aishwariya Rai. Their chemistry is to be watched and it is treat for your eyes. A.R.Rahman has once again proved that he is true genius. The Sufi song ‘Khawaja mere Khawaja’ is very good and has been wonderfully shot. All the songs are good and have been pictuarised magnificently. Ashutosh is the captain of the ship and has done his work extremely well. The battle scenes are few but worth watching. The movie has taken few steps towards International Cinema. India is ready to make movies of high budget and we have filmmakers, who can do that. ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is worth your money to watch.

There have been reports that the movie is not true to history, but if you go and see the movie for a Bollywood love story, its too good to be true. Another jewel in the crown from Ashutosh Gowariker, following his previous successful movies like Swades and Lagaan. All credit goes to the director fighting all odds in making this sixteenth century story about a marriage of alliance that brought two diverse souls together to find true love between the greatest Mughal Emperor that ruled Hindustan .................... I would strongly recommend everyone to watch this movie as it does make us flip our history books again. A must watch for all Hrithik & Aishwarya die hards !! A masterpiece unfolds and a message is passed to our generation , we need to salute the great Emperor Akbar ...........

I haven't really seen Mugle-e-azam so it wouldn't be right of me to compare that movie with Jodhaa Akbar on any kind of level or basis. However, my review does come from someone of today's generation and I would think it'll show through from my review.

I have been waiting for this movie since last year and finally I watch it today. My long waiting paid off, it's an excellent movie! I never saw this such great battle in any Hindi movies until today. I had goose bumps in few scenes ... nobody can play Akbar except Hrithik. I don't like Aiswarya but I must admit her performance was excellent. Can't wait for the dvd out, for now ... I will watch again in cinema.

Good Perfomances , Tactful Direction , Witty Screenplay , the film has Soul also , but what it does not provide is entertainment. its more of a biography , and Mr Adarsh wrote in review article for the same that the end fight between Hritik and Sahriffuddin resemebles to the one great fight in troy between Pitt and Bana , but this one is not even close to it , when u include a war sequence and if this is the level of details provided for the same , then its gonna backfire , Probabaly if Ashutosh Had guts to rake in 10-156 crores more only for war sequence , this film would have paid in more than a 100 crores , but I think it will not even rake in the meagre amount spent over it , there is not hype , no buzz . Mr Ashutosh You need to take some Marketing lessons from your Swades Hero , My SRK . Okay lets come to the Point I found the film to abe a beutiful Epic and a sincere effort but it does not have the Entertainment element attached to it and Movies are only their for entertainment if you want to teach history leave Filmmaking and join some school and then teach who was Jodha Bai and Who was Akbar , but please do not waste 3.5 hours for this purpose and essential time and money of all the moviegoers. I cannot write any review because there is none to write.
