Rajesh (Manoj Kumar) lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay with his widowed mother (Mumtaz Begum), is a student in Bombay University, excels in sports, and is friendly with fellow student, Lata (Shashikala). Then he meets with Manju (Nanda), a religious woman, who is also good at sports, and both fall in love. He goes out of town for a few days and when he returns he is shocked to find Manju has left town - but he will be devastated when he finds out that she is the unwed mother of a male child (Master Raju).
